KACE Cloud June 2024 Release
KACE has partnered with Splashtop to integrate a high quality, secure, and easy-to-use Remote Access solution into KACE Cloud. This new feature, available today, allows administrators to remotely control Windows, macOS, and Android devices; and remotely view iOS devices.
In addition to launching the Remote Access feature, our June release includes the following enhancements:
- Improved Patch Status Reporting
- Device Aliases
- Custom Compliance Reporting
- MSI Installation using KACE Cloud Agent
Remote Access
To get started with the Remote Access feature, you must first distribute the Streamer apps to the devices that you want to remotely access and then install the Viewer app on your administrator devices. After the prerequisites are met, you can initiate remote access sessions from the Devices page. More detailed instructions on installing the streamer and viewer apps and using remote access are available in the documentation.
Remote Access is included in all Modern and Comanaged subscriptions. Devices managed through the Companion Edition can upgrade to the Companion Edition with Remote subscription to enable this functionality.
Patch Status Reporting
We’ve introduced a new Deployments view in the Patching Library. This screen provides an overview of all of the patches that are scheduled to be applied in your environment. You can also use this view to understand what patches are missing: those patches that are detected as applicable but not yet successfully deployed. We’ve also made a few other improvements to patching including adding patch release dates to list views and a new Missing Patches report.
Device Aliases
Administrators can now use the Device Alias field to change the display name of devices in KACE Cloud without impacting the actual device name. For more information, check out the documentation on adding a device alias.
Custom Compliance
Custom Compliance allows you to choose certain items within a policy to be ignored during the calculation of compliance. This is particularly useful for cases where there are known issues with the installation of non-critical apps, Wi-Fi configurations, or any other entity on the device that may cause the device to be marked as out-of-compliance. These failures will still be visible, but will not affect the overall compliance status of the device.
MSI Installation
The KACE Cloud Agent will now deploy Uploaded Apps using MSI installers, making this capability available on Windows Server and adding more granular control over the deployment process. Prior to this change, Uploaded MSIs were deployed to devices through the MDM protocol.
